3rd Space Worship

3rd Space Worship is an experience of worship outside of the traditional structures of religious institutional life. This means that it will be our goal to worship outside of the “church building” in homes, at parks, by the labyrinth, etc. Each meeting may bring a different expression of spiritual attention and worship including various expressions of music, art, silence, story, poetry, and engagement with the natural world. There will be time for communal engagement of spiritual practice as well as time for building relationships and holding space for each others’ lives. There will probably also be food to share. We believe that the experience of spiritual community is maybe the most important aspect of Jesus’ life and teachings. We also know that the space in which we worship brings with it many assumptions or expectations. These can be helpful and meaningful but they can also be triggering and stunting to a meaningful worship experience for those who have experienced hurt from church. 3rd space worship has the goal to engage communities that have “church baggage” and who may need a safe place to explore and engage their spirituality. 3rd space worship is open to EVERYONE but is focused on those who may be looking for something more than traditional worship in traditional “churchy” spaces… Many folks today who have been slighted by church are still yearning for some kind of spiritual engagement and community. These are the folks we imagine will experience life and hope in 3rd space worship. We are an OPEN AND AFFIRMING space. We will meet once monthly in a new location and hope you will join us!
